The type of personal information we collect
We currently collect and process the following information:
- Personal identifiers, contacts and characteristics (for example, name and email contact details)
How we get the personal information
Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:
- To subscribe you to our programme newsletter
- You submit an enquiry via a contact form on this website
We also receive personal information indirectly, from the following sources in the following scenarios:
- MailChimp – if you subscribe to our audience list
- We collect information about you when you visit our website for the first time, and when you interact with our pages. Website usage information is collected using cookies.
Cookies
Cookies are text files placed on your computer to collect standard internet log information and visitor behaviour information. This information is used to track visitor use of the website and to compile statistical reports on website activity. For further information visit www.aboutcookies.org or www.allaboutcookies.org.
You can set your browser not to accept cookies and the above websites tell you how to remove cookies from your browser. However, in a few cases some of our website features may not function as a result.
Embedded content
Sometimes we’ll embed content in our pages that we don’t control or operate. This is common for social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. When you interact with these elements, which are always marked clearly, you’ve not interacted with our website but instead the service embedded, and we can’t guarantee what data is collected.
Search engine
Our website search is powered by Google. Search queries and results are logged anonymously to help us improve our website and search functionality. No user-specific data is collected by either us or any third party.
Google Analytics
We use a third-party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. We do this to find out things such as the number of visitors to various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.
How we use personal information
We use the information that you have given us to keep you informed about news and events relating to our research programme.
We may share this information with the research programme partners and MailChimp.
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful basis we rely on for processing this information is:
(a) Your consent.
You can remove your consent at any time. To do this, contact the Digital Youth Team at hello@digitalyouth.ac.uk
How we store your personal information
Your information is securely stored.
We keep your contact information for the duration of the research project, to 31 August 2025. We will then securely dispose of your information, in accordance with University of Nottingham guidelines
Your data protection rights
Under data protection law, you have rights including:
Your right of access – You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.
